Other Lives _ Black Tables

I found this song from the show, “Ugly Betty”. It was an emotional scene and when the song played, I had to find out the title of it.

Here’s a snippet of the lyrics to the song, “Black Tables”

When the whites of your eyes come through
You will see something new
With your body and mind restored
It’s good to see you back home

When the life in your eyes once black
Things return, you’ve come back
With your body and mind restored
It’s good to see you once more

Turning black tables
And you’re turning black tables
And you’re making your head whirl
Making your head whirl

And you’re turning black tables
And you’re turning black tables
And you’re making your head whirl
Making your head whirl”

While listening to this song, I felt a lot of pain so I translated it to a drawing. It’s not fantastic and it might not even have any relationship with the meaning of the lyrics but here it is:

I definitely feel a sense of death and dread from the song especially from the verses, “When the whites of your eyes come through” and “When the life in your eyes wants black”.

It’s depressive and possibly someone about to commit suicide. This could be because of one’s trouble from the past catching up to them.

You try so hard to grasp what’s in front of you but you get pulled back by your past and drown in a bottomless pool of quicksand.

However it does picks up at the end where everything is going to be fine. There’s a feeling of recovery and healing.

I love the tune to the music. It’s so heartfelt.

It fills the meaning with colour but has a really good lesson about facing your problems; While it does seem impossible to get out of a horrible past, looking ahead with a positive view would change your/my life much better.

So, I’m definitely going to try that. Maybe it could work on me.

UNTIL NEXT TIME!!!
