Favorite french animated adventure film

I remember watching this during my secondary school days on Arts Central. It was late at night and I was studying and the animation and artistry of this film is dramatic and thought-provoking.

Triplets of Belleville

The 2003 film, “Triplets of Belleville” is about  a lady who met the 3 legendary music hall singers from the 1930s, whom she met during her mission to rescue her son who was kidnapped by some mafia for some gambling purposes.

My favourite scene is the one shown above. It’s the scene where she first met the 3 ladies. The song they are singing is “Belleville Rendez vous”.

At first when I watched it, the pacing was too slow for me. You know how movies are straight to the point and action comes rushing towards you.

This isn’t the movie for you if you want to sit and do nothing. [Unless of course your goal is to sleep half-way through the movie, that is] It’s almost a dark and whimsical movie but the ending is great.

The rescued her son, Champion, and the movie ends with flash forward old Champion sitting by the television feeling contented.
